Eljen Corporation Awarded HIRE Vets Platinum Medallion

WINDSOR, CT:  Eljen Corporation, a veteran-founded wastewater and environmental products manufacturer based in Windsor, Connecticut, has received HIREVets Platinum Medallion award from the U.S. Department of Labor for 2021.  This marks the third consecutive year that Eljen has received this award, which was publicly announced during a national awards ceremony by the U.S. Department of Labor on November 10, 2021.

“Eljen has been committed to supporting, hiring, and training veterans since our veteran-founder Joseph Glasser started the business in 1970,” says company president James King, Retired U.S. Army Captain. “I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished and what we will continue to do.”

The award was instituted by the 2017 HIREVets – Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans – Act.  This award is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes a company or organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention, and professional development.  It shows that Eljen Corporation has a commitment to hiring veterans, ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service.

Eljen Corporation actively recruits veterans reentering the workforce and is committed to several organizations that specifically support veterans in need, such as Homes For Our Troops and Purple Heart Homes.  In 2021, Eljen partnered with organizations across the country to provide donated septic systems to veterans.  These donated septic systems directly impacted both the homeowners and the environment by bringing systems up to code and replacing failed septic system drainfields.

“Our technical team is made up primarily of veterans,” said Eric Daniels, who served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer before becoming Eljen’s Senior Technical Lead.  “Not only are we able to apply skills and training we learned during our military careers to our civilian careers at Eljen, but we are also able to give back to veterans in need.  This award represents Eljen’s continued commitment to veterans.”
